flags

overview

four options, one correct. play in either direction: see a flag and name the place, or see a name and pick the matching flag. personal bests are stored per mode.

modes

• normal, one incorrect answer ends the run and resets your streak.
• infinite, mistakes do not end the run. keep going and track a score.
• timed, score as many as you can before the clock runs out. pick a duration before you start.

categories

world and us states are available to everyone. historical, proposed, and city flags are mayday plus. you can also play all categories together, or filter world by region, regional by country, and the other sets by their own region lists.

• world, national flags, filterable by region.
• us, us state flags.
• regional, sub-national flags, filterable by country.
• historical, flags that are no longer official.
• proposed, flags that were designed but never adopted.
• city, city flags.

challenges

challenges apply when you are guessing the name from a single flag image. they do not apply when you are picking among four flag thumbnails. zoom and scrambled cannot be combined.

• blur, identify the flag from a blurred shape and color.
• no color, all color is washed out to grayscale.
• scrambled, the flag is cut into tiles and rearranged.
• zoom, only a portion of the flag is visible. pick a zoom level (with a preview) before you start.

offline

download categories to play without a network connection. reverse (name → flag) needs the active category downloaded to work offline. an all-categories run needs every category saved.
